Agatha Christie’s grandson Mathew Prichard talks to us about his Grandmother Agatha Christie – I suppose it took some time for it to sink in that I had a famous grandmother known to the world as Agatha Christie. I first remember her during the years when I was at preparatory school and her house at Wallingford was nearby. In 1959, Agatha Christie transferred her home to her daughter, Rosalind Hicks, her only child. At the beginning of 1925, Agatha was invited to participate in a committee to design and organise a children's section of the 1925 British Empire Exhibition in Wembley. Another friend of Belcher's, Nancy Neele, was also invited to be a member of the Committee; Neele would later become Christie's mistress and second wife. Ten Little Niggers is the name of a children's poem, sometimes set to music, which celebrates the deaths of ten Black children, one-by-one.

She was educated at home, with later studies in Paris, France. Christie taught herself to read at five years old. Agatha Christie is fine for that age except you need to be aware that there is a lot of casual racism etc in her books - lots of negative stereotyping of jews, Irish, africans, working class etc.
